Use painters tape to tape up drop cloths around the room only if you are using spray paint to prevent the spray paint mist from covering areas you don t want to be painted.
Painting the countertop is actually pretty easy.

Begin by sanding the surface with fine grade sandpaper to lightly scuff away the gloss being careful not to sand away the color.
First i used the fine bristled brush to cut in around the edges of the counter.
Don t backbrush over drying sections.

Lightly sand the counter with 150 grit sandpaper and wipe off any dust with a damp cloth.
To ensure an even and full coat add several coats and allow time for each coat to dry in individually.
Use long smooth strokes and keep the paint flowing in one direction.
Comet or other scrubbing powder cleanser.
For laminate vanity countertops you will want to use latex satin or a semi gloss enamel.
Once the second coat of primer has dried you can proceed to paint the counter.
Use a roller to avoid brushstrokes in your finish.
Prime the entire surface with 100 percent acrylic primer.
Apply a thin coat of paint to the sink using a natural bristle paintbrush.
