Calking Damp Siding

On most new homes the trim goes up after the siding is installed which creates a large gap that should not be caulked.

1 use a putty knife to pry away any loose caulk which should break off of the siding easily. You need to have the best caulk for hardie siding to help your walls and wooden surfaces to get rid of open cracks and thin spaces between joints. In the old days the builder would install the trim bring the siding up to it and caulk the corner. But here the main problem is people usually don t find the right type of caulk for their works.

Often this means you will need to use different tubes of caulk at the butt joints and where your siding meets trim. If you happen to get wet caulk on the siding allow it to dry before removing it. Paint can hide wood rot so poke the siding with the tip of the screwdriver. Working fairly small areas at a time squeeze a bead of caulk into a seam run your finger over the caulk to smooth it and then run a lightly damp sponge over it to smooth it even further.

Squeeze wipe sponge repeat. If you use sashco s acrylic latex caulking sealant you can have any interior or exterior as good as new.
