If the button won t push in to open the microwave door one of the little ears that holds the button in place has broke off and is keeping the button fron being depress.

The things i have seen in a microwave not working are the high voltage diode shorted or opened and the 12v relay on the control board which drive the voltage on the magnetron. It then contacts the door latch assembly and releases the door hooks to allow you to open the door. I think i have never seen a door switch broken unless someone physically damages them. In most of the cases where the microwave door is not opening the cause comes out to be an issue with the door latch button or lever. You might have an issue with the door latch lever or button if your microwave will not open. What happens is that the lever unit usually has a paddle or a button which gets in contact with door latch assembly and releases the hooks which in result lets you open the microwave door.
